Arizona
Site of one of the world’s most feature-filled deserts and home to the legendary heroes of the “Wild West”, the state of Arizona is a top holiday destination in the USA. Towns like Tombstone bring the decadent days of cowboys and Indians to life, while the awesome Grand Canyon cuts through the northwestern corner. Themore

Arizona is a great place all round. Lots of sunshine throughout the winter make it a good destination at this time of year. The National Parks on the Southern border are incredible with very interesting and diverse desert and striking mountain ranges. Lots of great Mexican food, laid back outlook and multiple outdoor activities, natural sites, museums and zoos make it a wonderful state to visit.
Flagstaff, Arizona - Valerie Mellema. Date of travel: Nov 2007
Every year when we make our drive to Las Vegas we stay in Flagstaff, Arizona. It's a good break on such a long drive. This past trip we had a little time to kill and we were starving. The girl at the hotel pointed us towards a restaurant called Black Bart's Steak House Saloon. We loved this restaurant! It was so cool because the servers are theater and music students at the Northern Arizona University. They sing and dance and put on a great show. Each server takes turns singing and playing the piano and then they do a bunch of songs as a group. The food did come out a little cool, but you don't really care because you see your server is busy singing! We stayed at a decent hotel. Just something to get us through the night, I believe it was a Howard Johnson's. It was okay though because it had a swimming pool and hot tub indoors. They also had a pretty decent continental breakfast with a waffle machine. It was good for the money and right down the street from the restaurant we ate at so you didn't have to worry about getting lost and it was right off the highway. Tour Operator: Hotelscombined.com
Arizona - P. Downey. Date of travel: May 2007
My advice would be go to Arizona in May before crowds. Forget the Grand Canyon and make sure you see Bryce and Zion which are much more tactile as opposed to the sheer size of G.C. Don't book ahead you'll find plenty of accommodation and can stop when you like. Take in as many canyonlands as possible and ignore LA. It's a hole. Palm Springs was delightful. Carmel Big Sur Monterey not to be missed. Get as much info before you go as possible and remember you cant see it all
Holbrook and the Painted Desert - Barry Leggett. Date of travel: Mar 2006
Holbrook is the closest town to the Petrified Forest National Park. A visit is highly recommended. The colours of the eroded hills in the Painted Desert are stunning, with reds, violets, yellows and blues. The Petrified Forest section is also magnificent. Huge trees, or sections of trees are visible, with their trunks turned to gem-like stone in many dazzling colours. On a sunny day it's glorious, but don't go if it's raining and blowing a gale!
Sedona - Olga and Herbert. Date of travel: Jan 2005
Sedona was a wonderful place for hiking, visiting the Grand Canyon and see many interesting places like Indian ruins.
So much more - Marge Berry. Date of travel: Jun 2003
The Grand Canyon is so much more than anyone can tell you or pictures can show you. You need to spend time seeing the colours change with the different lights and absorb the magnificence from its rim - if you can ignore the photo-snappy crowds around you that is. Even better, hike down into the depths and really experience it and you'll lose all the crowds too.
Bryce Canyon - Sheila Newton. Date of travel: May 2003
The Bryce Canyon was truly magnificent - I thought I might be disappointed after first visiting the Grand Canyon, but this was so new to me and fresh that I almost preferred it to the over-photographed image I had always been wanting to see!
