Snowboarding in Soldeu - H. Date of travel: Jan 2008
Soldeu was a great choice for a snowboarding holiday. I took group snowboarding lessons - the staff were great - friendly, encouraging, English speaking, fun... and I got some good tips even though the snow wasn't the best at times, and there were plenty of attractive tree-lined runs for beginners and intermediates as well as more challenging runs. It was the snowboarding staff and the staff of the local snowboard shop 'LOADED' which really made the holiday. The staff in the shop were a great bunch of guys, especially Pete. They would do anything they could to help us out, were friendly and knew their stuff. I would recommend anyone going to visit their great shop - it is well decked out, and has computers for internet access too. 'LOADED' also hold raffles at the weekly snowboard party in T-bar giving away lots of gear from their shop to raise money for the hardworking snowboard instructors - including giving away a new snowboard every week. Even with only a few tickets - we won loads each week - thanks guys. Although the resort turned out to be more expensive than we expected, it was an attractive place, with good quality facilities, and you could always hop on the bus to the capital to get cheaper food/booze if you wanted. All in all we had a great time. Would recommend it. Lets hope global warming doesn't destroy snow sports in the Pyrenees forever!
