ANTIGUA HOLIDAY REVIEWS
Antigua
Perhaps the greatest gift the Spanish conquistadores bequeathed to South America is the captivating city of Antigua in Guatemala, today just as enchanting as it was in its heyday as a showpiece of the Spanish Empire. Pretty plazas, pedestrianised cobbled streets, fountains and magnificent Baroque mansions characterise this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Those who holidaymore

I would highly recommend doing a Spanish language course in Antigua - I signed up at La Union school for a week, but you can choose any length of time to study. Lessons are one on one so you learn a lot very quickly and I met with my teacher to discuss what shape the lessons would take before we started on Monday. The school also organised for me to stay with a local family so I could practice my Spanish at home too - really excellent, and close enough to the school so I could walk to and fro. Every evening I would do my homework and then join the family for dinner and a chat - everything in Spanish! There were also extra mural activities such as visiting nearby village communities or salsa dancing - great fun and good to get to know other students. Really fun and made huge progress in the language.
