The pictures of Lake Atitlán are beautiful, but the reality is better. Such beautiful colors, peaceful, the Mayan descendants walking around the lake with their colorful dresses. It is a wonderful adventure. I was in San Marcos Laguna in a little cottage in front of the lake. To awake in front of the lake is incredible.

It is a country enviroment. They offer shuttles or car and driver to pick up you at the airport and also connections from Lake Atitlan to other beatiful places. Perfect for groups, big families or honey moon.

I had an awesome time at Lake Atitlan - really laid back towns and loads of little restaurants, guesthouses and activities for travellers. The market at Chichicastenango (Chichi for short) was stunning - tons of people (including tourists), but that didn't really make any difference - very colourful, lots of interesting stuff to buy and even more stuff to wonder at. It is easy enough to organise a trip there from Panajachel.
