Tel Aviv was the best city I have ever been to and I have travelled a lot. Tel Aviv is both European and Asian. It is one of the few cities (Istanbul, Beirut) where West meets East. The best way to see Tel Aviv is to walk on its many shaded "Shderot" or Boulevards. Most of the boulevards lead to interesting point such as Neve Tzedek, the beaches, Sheinkin street, the Carmel market, and the Yarkon park. They have just completed the "Tayelet" or promenade from Yarkon park along the Yarkon river, to the beaches. You can walk all the way to Yaffo, the historic sister city of Tel aviv with its serene alleys and Eastern charm. Don't let the headlines fool you. You are safer in Tel Aviv than most cities in the US.
