Ocho Rios Private Tour
We went on a private tour booked through A-Z Planners, ask for Oscar, you will not regret it. He picked us up at the ship, saving us 25 per person. We got a tour through Jamaica, climbed the falls, and went to Fern Gully, shopping and a pottery factory. Oscar and the driver were pleasantly funny, overall wonderful and so much fun. They stayed with us the whole time and the driver stayed in the vehicle with our belongings whenever we go out for shopping, climbing etc. We had a private tour with guide Tanitia up the falls, who was fantastic. She carried our camera and took photos of us all the way up (approximately 40 to 60 pics!) Don’t forget to tip!! The bus was air conditioned and only our group was in the bus. We learnt so much and it was definitely the highlight of our cruise. I would recommend Oscar to everyone, you won’t regret it and don’t forget to tip him, it’s worth it!! Have a happy tour in Ocho Rios, happy cruising!

Jamaica
I wanted to write a quick review about Jamaica because you hear so many poor reviews and bad things about Jamaica. I have to say that it was one of the highlights of our trip. The reason being because of our private tour guide. We booked a tour with Orville Taylor. It was $15 per person (we didn't have kids with us so check on that). I didn't want to do an organized tour. I wanted to go to the falls, get lunch at an authentic Jamaican restaurant and maybe do some sightseeing or shopping. I emailed Orville and told him all of this. He said "no worries, my tour is flexible, mon". So I booked with Orville. He met us at the boat in a clean air conditioned new van. Our first stop was Dunns Falls. When we got there and he had another tour guide take us through the falls, he was awesome (we just tipped him). The falls were beautiful and a must see. After we got done, we were soaking wet from head to toe (we knew we were going to get wet but didn't expect to be soaking). Orville said he would take us back to the boat to get cleaned up and then take us anywhere we wanted to go. We said, "great, what time do you want to meet us back here?" he said, "take your time, I will wait here for you." We thought that was fantastic. We changed clothes and met back with Orville. We decided that we would like to see a little bit of the countryside and do some shopping before lunch. He took us through Fern Gully and it was beautiful! Orville was very knowledgeable and fun! He has a great singing voice so if you are in the mood, ask him to sing you a couple of songs! He also took us shopping in some small villages which was really neat because the people were friendly and there was no pressure. Afterwards, he took us to lunch at a neat little restaurant that was at the top of a big bluff that had a gorgeous view of the ocean. The food was awesome! He waited for us there and then took us back to the ship. Orville was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. At the end of the tour we all took pictures together and said goodbye. I felt like we were saying goodbye to not just a tour guide but a friend! Have fun and enjoy Jamaica! If you would like to get in touch with Orville you can reach him at orvilletay@yahoo.com
Jamaica tours - Terri Ann Smith. Date of travel: Jan 2006
I'm back and have to say Jamaica was one of the greatest places we have ever been, America could learn a lot from how to use your resources to there fullest. Well now for my review....we left out of Baltimore on Air Jamaica which was a great flight the service was fine the breakfast was...well....airplane food what else can you say...when we got to the airport everthing was good they could have had better directions on where to go but we did alright.....checking in at Sandals desk was quick and easy the beer at the airport is way over priced but tourism is a profit business...the ride to Dunns River was a long ride and when the road construction gets done it will be better but they say that won't be done for years to come....we stopped on the way at a little place for a rest brake and got some jerk chicken that was great.....once we got to the resort we were greeted by the nicest staff and checked in which was fun and quick.....they gave us a tour of the resort which we had fun with after a couple of drinks (our tour guide Jean labeled me a trouble maker). After that the fun began the resort was clean the staff was very friendly and the guest were fun as hell...we met a couple from London Sue and Phil they were great they have been there 5 times in the last 15 months the staff made her a shirt that says Sue is home on the back of a Sandals Dunns River T-Shirt...as far as our room we were on the six floor ocean view main building down on the end by the piano bar and it was great they cleaned daily and did a great job the view was great but you must be up at least past the 3rd floor to get the ocean view.....as for you that think the place is run down I seen people working on the place every day and what I seen that was not new was just general maintenance as would be at your house (look around we all have things that need to be fixed) the food was great a little spicy but you are in Jamaica....the water sports activities were great we were gonna snorkel and scuba but the wind blew so hard that week the water was so rough we chose not to...there choice of drinks needs to expand for what you pay I would like to see some Budweiser products maybe some Corona and definately some Crown royal but we did not find any drink that we did not like. Jamaican Rum cream on the rocks became my favorite (I come home and had my local liquor store order it) so overall this is a 2 thumbs up resort/vacation and would recommend it to everyone..Now on to the tours we used Orville Taylor i must say that they told me he was great but not how great he took us to the falls and to shaw park gardens(which is not offered at Sandals dunns river actually there are alot of tours they don't offer that oscar and belinda can create for you)then off to Fern gully and on to Wassi pottery(and in some of the back areas that tourist don't go without a guide like oscar (we were safe the whole time) then on to the craft market(which was overwhelming) then on to duty free shopping and last margaritaville. He did a great job and was cheaper than the resort (it was $76 for the both of us we gave him a $25 dollar tip he was great and anyone going there I would recommend you using them instead of what they offer because you can customize your day much better than with the resort and for cheaper too....We are going on a cruise next year that stops in Ocho rios and we are allready searching for places to create a tour so we get hold of Oscar to set it up so again use Orville Taylor for all your tour needs they are great.....So to sum this up Air jamaica, Sandals duns river is great and don't forget orvilletay@yahoo.com, they too are great would recommend this vacation and tour guide to all 8767917118 Orville Taylor
