We stayed in Tokyo for five weeks. At first, it was a bit intimidating to take the train, but everyone is very friendly and willing to help point you in the right direction. Few speak English, but a Japanese phrase book will take you far. Bring your most comfortable walking shoes!! They have a lot of the necessities that we are used to back home, so pack light. The weather is perfect during October and November. We also went to see the shrines in the city of Nikko--not to be missed! Lastly, leave lots of room in your suitcase because the shopping here is second to none.
