Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur (fondly known as “KL”), is the capital of Malaysia, sited some miles inland on the west of the Peninsula. One of the world’s most prosperous and fastest-growing cities, KL is a glittering eyeful of towering buildings, dominated by the marvelous Petronas Twin Towers at its heart. Fantastic shopping - Paul Haigh. Date of travel: Mar 2008
I'm a guy who hates shopping but I had a ball in Kuala Lumpur. All the designer brands etc... but all at prices that didn't make me gasp in horror. Check out KLCC and Pavillion and old favourite Lot 10. Love the Lunar bar also... Nightclub on top of Pan Regent Apartments is very chic.
At Malaysia Airlines mercy - CH Chan. Date of travel: Feb 2007
On 4th of February, I touched down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 12pm for my connecting flight to Penang. As I was early, I tried my luck at the Stand By counter to see if I could catch an earlier flight and was informed by a Mr Ashyari (Malaysia Airlines) that we were placed on 2nd and 3rd respectively for MH1148 departing at 1.55pm. While waiting, we realised four passengers registered after us for the MH1148 flight as well. Knowing that Standby is based on first come first serve and with the assurance from Mr Ashyari that we are placed 2nd and 3rd on the list, we thought we should be given the seat first before those behind us. However, when the names were called, our name was left out and the four passengers supposed to be behind us got to fly on Flight MH1148. We were upset and requested to know why we were left out and Mr Ashyari just gave a lame excuse that he did not register our names in the first place!! Unhappy with this explanation, we requested to see his Manager on duty and were brought into a Malaysia Airline Duty Room (5th Floor, Check in floor) and were horrified the moment we stepped in. Three Malaysia Airlines uniformed staff were sleeping on the guest sofa including the DUTY MANAGER identified as Mr Chung. A few passengers was waiting to make complaint on some other issue and felt horrible inside the room as the staff were less than attentive. Immediately we shook the Duty Manager Mr Chung up from his sleep and mentioned to him what we have went through. Probably unhappy for disturbing his sleep, he stood on his staff side and said 'sorry, there is nothing we can do'. Upset with this kind of service rendered we mentioned that this case will be reported to the highest Authority and to our surprise, he challenged us to do so and even mentioned 'report all you want, there is nothing you can get from us'. We never thought that we would receive such kind of treatment from a senior person of a Respected Airline company. This year is Visit Malaysia Year, perhaps Malaysia Airlines Management should visit and clean up their own facilities, operation room and their staff first before some terrified guest experiences it.

I am totally in love with malaysia, the people are wonderful and I have made some great friends there, the food is magic and the night life excellent, I enjoy malaysia so much that I have almost made it my permanent holiday destination visiting malaysia 2 times in 2003 and 3 times in 2004. However my only criticism is that some restaurants throw food away without a care in the world, with food piled in a heap at the rear of the premisis and not in a recepticle, this practice attract rodents that are of the monster kind,I have seen more rats in kuala lumpur on my 5 visits than in a lifetime and as I suffer from a serious phobia of Rats can somebody please do something about these parasites. Wonderful place - Cath. Date of travel: Feb 2004
Stayed 10 days in sept 2004. Wonderful place with so much to see and do. independant traveller Lots's of tours from the Tourist Office very cheap for food. Found that walking was very easy in the centre but be aware of the motor bikes as they can be part of bag snatching teams but saying that as a more mature traveller did not have any bother. Travelled to the island by local airlines it was wonderful shall be returning again and again.
