Lagos
The sprawling, chaotic city of Lagos in Nigeria has been described as a “hellhole” by some travelers, but whatever your reaction, this over-crowded African capital which is home to 14 million people will not leave you unmoved. A holiday in Lagos is not a good idea: there is little tourist infrastructure and not much inmore
My trip to Lagos - Shelly. Date of travel: Jun 2009
I have recently returned from 2 weeks in Lagos. I would go back in a heartbeat! it is by far the most wonderful place I have ever been. Look past the noise, dirt and general chaos and you will see the most wonderful and heartwaming people and places. It has changed my way of thinking and made me realise what we all take for granted. You will never meet such a lovely down to earth bunch of people as you do in Nigeria. Ignore the media and TV reports and go see for yourself! It has been a complete life changing experience and I cannot wait to go back!

Lagos is the place to be - Monique Byrd. Date of travel: Dec 2005
Everyone is talking on a cell phones and business is going on everywhere, even on the highway. I went to very nice, exquisite clubs (eg Lacasa), the city mall, the movies, also Pepper Soup restaurant, a Thai food place ( I was pleased with the service). The men in Nigeria are so nice, my girlfriends promised to hook me up with one of their friends. The guys were courteous, always opted to pay the bill (unlike you know who). At the clubs, they had the same drinks as at home. I had a blast. I was there for New Year instead of in NY. They killed a real live cow/goat, I was in shock. I'd never seen that before, and the meat was grilled. Man, it was terrific. I despise the way African countries are portrayed by the media, they show only poverty and people in refugee camps. My advice is go to Nigeria with someone who can show you a good time and someone you trust. My friends are like family and yup, it was relatively inexpensive, I spent a total of US $2700. Not too bad including ticket etc. Housing, food and transportation was free courtesy of my friends and their family (wealthy family). Nigerians have a big, big hearts and gosh I had a blast and will do it over again!
