CUZCO HOLIDAY REVIEWS
Cuzco
Most tourists come to Peru to view the remains of the ancient Inca empire, and the best place to base oneself to see as much as possible is the city of Cuzco, once the Inca capital, where Inca walls are still incorporated in the buildings along the narrow streets of the city centre. A holidaymore

Chichubamba (5 mins walk from Urubamba, on route to Machu Picchu) proved to be a great find in the Sacred Valley,Peru, and currently well away from the beaten tourist track! A new project assisted by a local NGO, the Chichubamba "Life en El Campo Experience" was brilliant. Here I had the opportunity to visit local rural families who have opened their homes to visitors, and see what real life is like in this area of Peru. Each home has a speciality like organic honey making and fruit production, Incan design ceramics, Chicha (the local corn beer) or home made chocolate and cuy (hamsters) to try! The people were so warm and willing to share their lives, and with the opportunity to stay the night in one of the homes, this place was the highlight of my journey to Machu Picchu! Cusco is such a party town, although it is full of gringos there is a huge vibe. There are lots of shopping opportunities for fab Peruvian handcrafts, the nightlife kicks and there is good food. Nevermind the surroundings and all you can do from here like the Inca Trail, the Sacred Valley and all the ruins and awesome stonework in the area. Its worth it to spend some time here and use it as a base to explore or come back to - really cool spot, loved it.

In Cusco you can get a very handy tourist card for a set price which includes many of the sights in the area and is cheaper than separate entrance fees. And there is LOTS to see here! Very touristy spot but such a unique atmosphere all the same with heaps of culture.
