I loved my vacation to Moscow with Travel All Russia - Mark, Jane, Judi, Clay. Date of travel: Jul 2011
We just got back from our trip to Russia a couple of weeks ago it was by far the best packaged tour I have ever been on. Our small group of four was organized by www.travelallrussia.com. It was given guided tours by English speaking, and very knowledgeable guides. The drivers were courteous. Every place we went we got to the front of the line and not stuck behind large groups. We saw some amazing things while we were there. Absolutely worth every cent. Thank you so much to this wonderful company. Mark

Beware of incompetent travel agency - Travel All Russia - Robin Webber. Date of travel: Dec 2010
I booked a trip through Travel All Russia and they fell short on several matters during this trip. I have detailed all of it over and over again with them, but they are dragging their feet, arguing about what are facts, not opinion and generally being horrible to deal with. 1. Overall communication about this trip from the agency was terrible and it turned out that my time in Moscow was limited to only 4 hours - this was a change from the original itinerary that was not communicated to me. Had I known of the change, I would have booked a night in Moscow. I paid for a full day tour and was rushed by the tour guide - 4 hours is NOT enough for Moscow. 2. I paid for first class tickets for every leg of the train journey, but did not get it on legs 2 and 3. The 4 day trip to Irkutsk was second class, but with 4 tickets so I had the compartment to myself. That was acceptable, but I want to know the price difference between that and first class because even though I was alone, second class service is not the same as first class. From Irkutsk to Ulan Bator I was forced into 2nd class even though I had a 1st class ticket. This means sharing a compartment with 3 other people. I purposefully paid extra to avoid this situation and I did not receive what I paid for. They charged me for 1st class tickets, but did not communicate any change. They took the money, but did not provide the service. 3. Irkutsk - I was supposed to stay 2 nights, this was changed to 1 and not communicated. This change should have been communicated to me and I would have searched out alternatives. Another option for the off season would have been much better, such as staying in Irkutsk and making Lake Baikal a day trip. Even the changes that the agency knew about were not followed through on. There were several activities listed on the itinerary for this day and I did not get to do them; they were never even mentioned by the driver. The whole point of using a travel agency is to get assistance with exactly this type of situation. Travel All Russia failed miserably. 4. The guide provided to me in Listvyanka (Andrei) spoke very little English and the tour of the Wooden Architecture village was a complete waste of time since I could not ask him any questions. I paid for English speaking guides and did not get them for this day. The service before the trip took place was equally bad. I had to call and email multiple times to get any communication. What little I did get had to be extracted like teeth. They are operating in this country, but the language barrier is HUGE and have taken no steps to understand what the Amercian traveler is expecting in terms of service. The public needs to be warned about the immature and incompetent manner in which this company operates. I have been getting some arrogant and rude emails from the marketing person (Slava) who is implying that he needs to investigate what he is calling my "story". It is not a story, it is a factual series of events and I am extremely offended by this accusation. It is a matter of hotel records, partner travel agency records and this company's own trip package. I believe this is another way this company is trying to stall and deny their responsibility. I have traveled all over the world and the whole reason for using a travel agency is to make situations easier and have a more enjoyable trip; I usually book trips on my own. All but one of the guides/drivers provided were great, but this agency failed to communicate the changes and provide the services I paid for. I am requesting a reimbursement of $1200 back to my credit card as well as make public through the BBB how reprehensible they are behaving.

Cruise Moscow - St. Petersburg - Lev. Date of travel: Sep 2009
Go Moscow, Russia. Go on a river cruise, Russian river cruise is an amazing experience, it is something completely different from what you might find on a luxury, transatlantic trip. You visit various old towns (not only Moscow and St. Petersburg). The landscape is fascinating.

Moscow - Beware of Go Russia - Craig Bunck. Date of travel: Aug 2009
I would not recommend using this tour group called "Go Russia" for a Russian visit. Their tour guides were good and very knowledgeable, when they showed up on time. Also, I was dropped off at the wrong airport terminal, had to make numerous international calls and pay $25 US for a cab to get to the correct terminal. Go Russia did not refund me for their driver's mistake. They accused me of telling the driver the wrong terminal when in fact he spoke no English and I speak no Russian. The MAKS Air Show was great, Moscow was great but Go Russia was not.

Moscow, a hectic place - Dan Chistoff. Date of travel: Jul 2009
I personally love Moscow, but I feel so tired after I return. Most places here work 24-hours and there are always crowds outside. Noise is also very bothering. But the architecture and women are incredible.

Nowhere else in the world will you feel so disorientated and excited, confused and amused! It's superb, love it!

Go Russia! - Igor. Date of travel: Jul 2006
It was my first visit to Moscow after ~12 years abroad & was pleasantly surprised. I need to mention, perhaps, that when I was going there, I was almost scared - after reading Australian foreign correspondent Eric Campbell- with flying Russian airplanes, of Russian drunks on every corner, mafia & KGB, I did not want to see the promised filth & dirt & poverty everywhere. And did not want to be harrased by the Russian police & buerocracy. Well, I was not harrassed, did not see dirt, a single drunk on the street, was not even once stopped by police etc . The service (& quality of the plane itself) on Russian Aeroflot TU-154 was better than on Australian Qantas Canberra -Sydney flight (I estimate the airoplane quality by the amount of noise inside the cabin during the flight & the service quality - by how easy it is to get the attention). Food served was also better than in Oz. I had no problem with Russian customs & visa control. Yes, Russians did not smile -this is simply because they still did not consider SERVICE to be a part of their official duties - one should remember that after all they did not have SERVANTS for 70+ years! But it pays (you) to be polite - and to remember that if a person you are talking to does not readily demonstrate his/her dental work, it does not mean that he/she is unfriendly - as, by the way, the American smile does not give you any guarantee of friendliness. One must remember this & don't react as if he was not treated appropriately - it is when YOU start to SHOW that you think that you are not being treated well, when you might be given a chance to write about Russian "rudness" in your travel memoirs - because they will not understand what you don't like & assume that you don't like how they do they REAL work. Remebering this - that it is YOU who shows "unfriendliness" first - is especially important to remember when dealing with Russian authorities. Watch yourself and you will have no troubles at all & usually, the most pleasant experience. Moscow itself was extremely clean - much cleaner than eg. Sydney. And it appears, the Russians don't try to save on buildings repair. There are many new and restored churches - some are quite nice (see photo) and new buildings in "traditional" (not-Soviet) Russian style built everywhere. You may not feel rich in Moscow - prices sometimes are well over the roof. Just remember that you are in Russia & dont expect to feel like a millioner when you are not - Russia was and still is very rich country - it is the disbalanced distribution of its wealth that you see as a poverty. And Moscow is not the place for the poor.

I found Moscow very surprising. Not the dull, colourless place I always imagined. Red Square is stunningly beautiful, especially at night but there is much more to see besides the Kremlin, Lenin's mausoleum and St Basil's. The shopping, for instance, is great with lots of designer boutiques but very expensive! Also found some good restaurants. Can recommend Pushka on Pushkin Square for good pasta. It's also worth putting up with the queue to go to the Bolshoi Ballet. My advice is to get clued up before you go: go online and suss out MoscowCity.Com for the lowdown on this fascinating city.

The moscow underground is most astonishing - stations are very, very far down as they doubled as bomb shelters during the war and they are also incredible works of art. Most stations are beautifully decorated with exquisite mosaics, paintings, chandeliers and statues and are a tourist attraction in themselves. The metro is highly efficient, but can be quite confusing knowing when to get off as station signs are in Russian. We made sure we had our guide book handy so we could match up the cyrillic characters in our book to the meaningless writing we saw on the signs, or else counted the number of stops to know when to get off!
