St Petersburg
Elegant and graceful, the Russian city of St Petersburg was purpose-built to be a haven fit for kings and aristocrats. The magnificent Royal palaces, churches and civic buildings of this city spread across a series of islets, connected by ornate bridges and wide canals. The grace of the city architecture is mirrored in its greatestmore

Fascinating! Amazing! - Amy Jones. Date of travel: Aug 2008
It was my first trip, and I was really amazed by everything! Gorgeous sites, numerous museums, delicious food - everything was superb! Thanks my Russian friends, who helped me to organize this trip – they really did their best!
Unsafe - Leon Will. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Basically St Petersburg is not a tourist destination, it's unsafe, poor, police don't care, full of pickpockets and Russians who just want your money. It is very doubtful that what is being shown in the Hermitage is valid, we saw several paintings in different locations of the same image. If you want to go back to the 1950's museums, then this is the place. Most would have been shut down in Europe due to health and saftey reasons. Basically stay away, go to Venice or Paris, etc for your holiday St Petersburg is just not worth it.
I loved St. Petersburg!!! - Thomas Gledhill. Date of travel: Jun 2007
St. Petersburg is such a lovely city to visit, The Hermitage is fantastic as is the Russian museum. The river tours are very interesting don't go on one of the Russian bus tours, no English, not much comfort, once you have seen a bridge go up you have seen them all, we saw 3!!! And the tour ended at 5am!!! The palaces outside the city are well worth a visit, Catherine Palace and Peterhof are superb, each take about 1 day to view properly. There are lots of good eating bars in the centre of St. Pete, some English ones, Captain Cook is one to eat and drink at. Russian beer is very nice and the Russian champagne is inexpensive and fantastic! Try not to buy souvenirs on Nevski Prospect, try other parts of St. Pete even supermarkets sell good mementos much cheaper.
Unforgettable week in St. Petersburg - Nathalie. Date of travel: Feb 2006
We heard much about "White nights" in St. Petersburg - that wonderful summer period. But we could only go there in winter. And we were not at all disappointed! “Fremad Russia” travel agency was quick to provide us with visa support and cheap but surprisingly comfortable accommodation in the city centre. At last we decided to book also some excursions, in that case you need not worry about entrance tickets and transport. Hermitage is magnificent, not only the chef d'oeuvres but also the interiors. In fact, St. Petersburg is rich in wonderful palace interiors. Catherine Palace in Pushkin with its famous Amber room is worth seeing. You should take a chance and see the exciting panorama of the city from St. Isaac's Cathedral. And what a pleasure to have a walk around the city in the evening and to warm up in the Russian café. I think one should visit St. Petersburg a least once! And I can advice “Fremad Russia” as a reliable organiser of a trip.

Guided by our friends, another Swiss couple, we arranged our first visit to the spectacular city of St. Petersburg with ehotel.ru. Everything was prompt & fast, starting with visa support & obtaining general information on the city. Arriving from Moscow we were met at the Railway Station & guided to the apartment, given some advises on currency & dining. Thank you very much for a beautiful week, and special thanks to french-speaking Ruslan who accompanied us on excursions to Hermitage & suburbs. Tour Operator: ehotel.ru
