Singapore - Alex Loeb. Date of travel: Nov 2008
I'm not much of a shopper so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Singapore. The exotic elements are made familiar and easily navigated with English signs and speakers. I was able to find budget guesthouses in the charming Little India for about 20 dollars a night. The city really isn't only for shopping as I was able to attend outdoor concerts, a parade and some rad nightlife. High end luxury is certainly an option but I found eating delicious ethnic foods in Little Arabia or India districts to be around 4 dollars.
