Liverpool
Liverpool - Paul Sheehan. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Liverpool is one of the great cities of England and when you arrive in this city you find out why. On leaving Lime Street station via taxi I was struck by the beauty of Liverpool's architecture of which the truly magnificent St Georges Hall is the focal point. Other notable buildings are the Anglican and Catholic cathedrals which are both very unique. Add to this the Beatles Experience which is brilliant and the vast maritime museum and you have the ingredients for a great city break. I also did the tour of Anfield, home of the famous Liverpool FC, which I would recommend to all football fans visiting. The only drawback is that Liverpool is undergoing a significant amount of regeneration at the moment ahead of its being European capital of culture in 2008 so certain sections of the city are like a building site. Before I go, make sure you go for a pint in the cavern pub on Mathew St.
