Tucson - Chad. Date of travel: Jan 2007
I came to Tucson after my disenchantment with Phoenix. Yes, not the romantic fable behind the name but a magical city nonetheless. The college gives it a young and progressive feel. Some good music, art, and book stores as well. A small and manageable city with desert hiking an easy drive away. The public transport is a fairly tight bus system. Greyhound has the to and from transport covered and monopolized. But Amtrak has a station there as well.
Tucson and around - Barry Leggett. Date of travel: Mar 2006
If anyone is fed up with UK's cold spring, spend a week in Tucson. Within easy reach are sights that will appeal to many different tastes, among them: Picacho Peak for easy and strenuous hikes, Catalina Canyon park, the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum (including a zoo), the historic city of Tomstone with gunfights re-enacted every day, the Titan Missile Museum, and many more. The spring temperature is likely to be around 75 F with very little rain. We've visted 3 times and would recommend it to anyone.
