We spent a few days exploring the Volcano National Park, staying at the KMC military camp, and can really recommend this experience. We went on wonderful tours in comfortable buses at very good prices and found the steam vents amazing, though the volcano wasn’t actually erupting. It was really fascinating. The other thing that struck us most was how quiet it was at night and how beautiful the stars were. It rained most of the time but only lightly.
