Dr Sandrea Smith. Date of travel: Nov 2005
Used the Yellow Lot to park my car prior to my departure from Detroit. Big Mistake! Had to wait 30 to 40 minutes in the freezing cold for the shuttle to take me to the airport, despite several urgent telephone calls to Detroit Metro Parking, and attempts to hail taxis, and other shuttles on the highway. Missed my outbound plane and had to rebook my flight! Upon my return to Detroit, I waited in vain another 40 minutes for the shuttle to take me to my car. Finally, I walked (against traffic, in the rain, and in the dark) to get my car myself (felt seriously exasperated and disappointed in Detroit Metro Parking)!

Detroit. I like it. Steel bars everywhere. A half deserted town (their steel industry took a dive and 40% of the population headed to other grazing ground). I didn't stay here long. Toured the downtown, spent the night, sung with the black baptists in the morning and headed on. With so little time I go with my general feel and my general feeling is- this city is steeped in realism.
