Las Vegas
An oasis of neon-lit pleasure and leisure in Nevada’s Mojave Desert, the city of Las Vegas measures its tourist statistics in multiple millions, as well as the amount of cash raked in at its glittering hotels and casinos. The famous “Strip” is a collection of themed pleasure domes, where those who holiday in Las Vegasmore
Very cheap and very cheap - Lawrence Russell. Date of travel: Jan 2009
I'm from California and haven't been to Las Vegas for a while. I thought I'd try it again. I won't go back and stay on the strip.
Downtown Las Vegas - Valerie Mellema. Date of travel: Nov 2007
I have been to Las Vegas three times now. I absolutely love this city. There is so much to see and do that I still haven't done everything I want to do, so I'm going back in June! Even then, I know I'll be back because I just can't seem to see "O" and I desperately want to see that show. My most recent trip to Vegas we stayed Downtown at the Golden Nuggett. They have pretty recently done a renovation on the pool. It's amazing. It has a huge shark tank in the middle of a pool and then there is a tube slide that goes straight through the shark tank! The pool is absolutely spectacular and I rarely have time to go swimming in Vegas, but we made sure to this time. We also had the luxury of staying in a Spa Suite. These are the most expensive rooms in the hotel and we were upgraded because of the loud noise that was going outside our hotel room on our first night in Vegas. We are not generally people who complain, but when our waiter at lunch was rude and the buffet didn't put out lunch when they advertised and the cook was rude we felt like we had to say something. We wouldn't typically do that, but we were glad we did this time! Tour Operator: Hotelscombined.com
WOW What an experience - Ivan. Date of travel: Aug 2007
WOW What an experience
Other Valuable information: Got a great phone card deal the my travel phone card $15 (£7.50 approx) gave me over 200 minutes to UK land lines via a toll free number. Food is a plenty in Vegas. Started off with the Buffet at Circus Circus equivalent to about £7 per adult for evening meal incl soft drinks. Thought great, not bad value until we found Arizona Charlies Hotel and Casino on the Boulder Highway 4 miles from the Mardi Gras. A much better quality and Value at £4.50 per adult approx. Special days it was £6 when rib steak or steak and shrimp was an added choice but still astounding value. Want to go on the helicopter over the Grand Canyon book early these fill up quick. This was an unforgettable experience. Are you a thrill seeker go on the Stratasphere tower top rides the Xscream ride that puts you facing down to the ground was the most terrifying experience and thrill of my life. Got a child not a problem plenty for them to see and do the lights and entertainment (free shows and attraction at the hotels in air conditioned comfort.) Blackpool in not a patch on Vegas. We went in August and saw tempratures high as 117ºF. A well recommended holiday.
I love Vegas! - Sharonette Sanderson. Date of travel: Jul 2007
I could not think of any bad points about Las Vegas except leaving. I had fun and really enjoyed myself.
Wonderful place, totally amazing... - Carol and John. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Steak House in Circus Circus is wonderful, brill value for money and the service was fantastic, not to mention the great food. You must go there...
Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil - Valerie Mellema. Date of travel: May 2006
Cirque du Soleil's show Zumanity was great. The theater is small so there really isn't a bad seat in the house and the cast members really interact well with the audience to make the show even better. It's no "O," but it is an excellent show and the same one featured in the movie Knocked Up. Tour Operator: Hotelscombined.com
Las Vegas is fantastic - Lucy Whitehouse. Date of travel: Nov 2005
I stayed at the Hotel Luxor a wonderful hotel at the end of the strip. Inside the hotel is very spectacular with inclinators instead of lifts. A large pool area, one heated. Las Vegas itself is a fantastic place, not tacky as people seem to believe. Plenty to see and do and a trip over the Grand Canyon is a must. I cannot wait to do back and it is not all gambling there are some great shops too. Tour Operator: Permier Holidays
Las Vegas! - Louise Wilkins. Date of travel: Oct 2005
This was my third holiday to Las Vegas, Nevada USA and my partners second. We travelled with continental airways into Newark and stopped three nights in New York at the Roosevelt hotel which was of a very high standard and centrally located for all Manhattan sightseeing. We would strongly recommend the hotel to others and also the grey line buses to do the uptown and downtown loops in Manhattan. We went on the Statton island ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and went up the Empire State building at night to see the lights of NY. Another favourite was a horse drawn white carriage around central park. Flying on to Las Vegas we stayed at the Monte Carlo casino and resort hotel, which was fantastic. The highlight of the trip was the maverick helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon, which is a must. Tour Operator: Worldwide Journeys
Vegas - Chad. Date of travel: Jul 2004
Yes this is a strange place. Sin City they say. I'm not a gambler but I've heard the tips. Stay on the new strip, where all the tourists without any skill are throwing out money. Stay away from the old strip where the real cards sharks play. I like Vegas. I just sit and watch people, then change places and get back to watching people. I took that elevator to the top of some high building. That was cool but not highly recommended. The water and amusement parks, yes, these I recommend.

Escape from the madness of Las Vegas into its suprisingly stunning setting surrounded by desert landscapes. We took a break from gambling and time-worn waitresses to explore Red Rock Canyon, the Valley of Fire and Rainbow Valley which displayed unforgettable sandstone colours. Hoover Dam was interesting too.

Las Vegas at New Year is a fantastic experience. One I would definately recommend. If you do plan to do any trips/excursions I would recommend you book in advance, as many cheaper if you book in the uk prior to travel than booking in Vegas. Tour Operator: united vacations
