• PHILADELPHIA HOLIDAY REVIEWS

Philadelphia
The city where the United States of America was born is understandably a major tourist destination, its historic heritage centred on the National Historical Park where the Constitution of the United States was drawn up in 1787. While most come to holiday in Philadelphia (fondly known as “Philly”) for its history, they stay on tomore
Atlantic City, Loved it - Mary Westin. Date of travel: May 2007
When we flew into Philadelphia Aiprort we hadn't pre-arranged transportation to Atlantic City. Don't make the same mistake I did. I thought there was a continuous shuttle that went to Atlantic City, there isn't. I also didn't realize Atlantic City was an hour away. So we took a cab and it cost us $200! But we got there and it was great. We walked on the boardwalk, got some saltwater taffy, did some outlet shopping and of course gambled a bit. The pier at Caesars was great, it reminded me of Las Vegas. Lots of shopping and make sure you eat at The Continental, it was marvelous. We also went to a comedy show at the Tropicana, it was hilarious. We made our way over to the Sands Casino, but it was closed for renovations, so we went to the Showboat, it was a lot of fun, the casino has a Mardi Gras theme. On the way back to the Philadelphia Airport we smartened up and reserved a car service to take us back, it was less than $100. I'll have to remember to reserve one next time we come in. We used a company called Chariot Limo, or Airport Chariot, or something like that. We tried flying into AC Airport, but there weren't really many options unless we connected through 1 or 2 other cities. I did not want to do that. Philadelphia Airport seems to be the closest major airport.
