There is no doubt that this is a picturesque place, but it all seems a little bit fake - like an elaborate Hollywood set that if touched, may fall over to reveal the film crew having a smoke. This is party central and hundreds of Aussies and other assorted young foreigners flock here to work, score a ski pass, party and meet other young foreigners. The skiing/snowboarding scene is awesome for all ages and levels and the area is full of snow-capped, Christmas tree lined mountains and twinkly lights, but it almost seems too good to be true. Being there over New Year meant that I got to see Whistler in all its drunken glory and am glad i was there just for a visit - I had loads of fun but don't have the stamina (or the liver) to cope! The shops (mostly touristy) are hideously expensive as is accommodation, so be prepared to shell out... And smile, you may be on candid camera...
