Courchevel - Jamie S. Date of travel: Apr 2007
I went skiing in Courcheval in April and the snow conditions were excellent depite the hot weather. The snow got pretty slushy at the bottom slopes in the afternoon, but the higher skiing was awsome with some great bumps. Mont Vallon was worth the trip despite the queues at Mottaret in the morning. The snow at Courcheval 1650 was good at the top. Courcheval 1850 was not so good for beginners in the warm conditions - 1650 is better.
Best skiing in Europe - Jasper C. Date of travel: Jan 2007
Courcheval has some of the best skiing in Europe and the nightlife and restaurants are also top class. Quite pricey though. We skied the three valleys (Courcheval, Meribel and Val Thorens) fairly extensively. The Courcheval Valley alone offers a tremendous amount of skiing and better skiers can explore the whole ski area without rushing back too quickly. Beginners can always stick to the runs above Courcheval 1850 and 1650 - even if they managed to get to Val Thorens they'd have problems getting back before last lifts, but you can always meet for lunch in Meribel.
Azelle. Date of travel: May 2004
We stayed in an apartment in the Hotel du Golf, which is just below the main ski lift in Courchevel 1650. Great location and close to all the shops and restaurants. The apartment was fairly basic but good value and just what we were after - two couples getting away from the children for a weeks holiday. Small kitchen, comfortable beds and lots of hot water. Courchevel 1650 is not quite as well located as Courchevel 1850, but we could always (just) ski to our door and it didnt take too long to get over to the other resorts - 1850 and Meribel, though going to Val Thorens is a bit of a mission, a full days ski there and back. The best restaurants and shops are in 1850 - I can't remember their names but some of the restaurants are world class. Courchevel 1850 is just a 15 min taxi ride away. Overall Courchevel is one of best ski resorts I've been to, excellent for all standards of skiiers. Tour Operator: Simply Ski
