Gouves is nice place - Jayne and Samuel Webster. Date of travel: Aug 2008
Gouves is located 5 mins walk to the beaches. Lots of great restaurants within short walking distance. Found a fab restaurant in a local village, long walk, but short cheap taxi ride back. Felt very safe to walk about in the evening with my son. The town was busy, full of party people, we kept away from there until the last night when present shopping. The local people so very friendly, made big fuss of my son, looked after us very well. Beaches clean, portaloos actually clean! Lots to see in the area, aquarium short taxi drive away. Bus service very good and cheap!
Relaxing - Katka. Date of travel: Sep 2007
A nice relaxing place, nice tavernas where we enjoyed our dinner. Tasting different meals like Creta, Chinese, etc. We loved the sandy beaches especially the sun and the local people we met.
Gouves - Debbie. Date of travel: Aug 2007
The Gouves was quite a small town. There are bars around but only in the main part about five min walk. There are a few beaches, basic, nothing special but the weather was very hot.
Gouves - Sandra and Oliver. Date of travel: Aug 2007
The beach was excellent, the restaurants were plentiful with a budget to suit all. The little church on the beach was a delight, with 3 weddings while we were there. The local people in the supermarkets, restaurants were helpful and friendly towards me and my son. Would go again.
I loved Gouves - J Crawford. Date of travel: Jul 2007
At The Blue Aegean, we were on the outskirts of Gouves which in our view was good. We had plenty of choice of restaurants, some only 50m away or a short walk along the seafront approx 1 km. You have the main resort and harbour areas. This is a family resort, fairly quiet ,good choice of restaurants and bars and a choice of good beaches. Give it a try.
Out on a limb - Simon. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Although pleasant, Gouves was very small with only the 'promenade' which was full of restaurants and supermarkets, and a main shopping street -also full of restaurants (too many of them advertising karaoke, Coronation Street and English breakfast, etc), and a few souvenir shops. The locals were not pushy in trying to entice you into their restaurants or shops which was nice. We hired a motorbike a couple of times and explored the vicinity around Gouves which was lovely and we found nice beaches and villages that were off the tourist track. If you like a hotel, beach type holiday, ie. sitting in the sun a lot, Gouves is ideal, otherwise you will need transport as you can see Gouves in it's entirety in a few hours.
