A holiday in Kardamena, on the south coast of the Greek Island of Kos, has almost become a rite of passage for young British party-animals out for a good time. Packed with apartment blocks, Kardamena provides a taste of home with British style pubs and restaurants, endless souvenir stalls, and some rip-roaring night clubs. Themore

Nice place to stay - Kardamena! - Thomas. Date of travel: Mar 2011

Sleepy during the day - party, party, party at night - John, Alison, 4 kids. Date of travel: Jul 2010
During the day, Kardamena is sleepy and relaxing with a good selection of restaurants, bars and touristy shops. At night, however, it is a different beast, with numerous bars and clubs competing for business, giving a very lively atmosphere. This could either be great, or a nightmare if you were staying in the centre of town, depending on what you're looking for. On the outskirts of the town centre, there are quiet restaurants and bars overlooking the beach. The sea is impossibly blue and sitting watching the moon reflect off the water as you eat really takes some beating.
Top Holiday! - Sally. Date of travel: Jul 2010
Went to Kardamena in July. Me and my family stayed at Carda beach hotel, a 15-20 minute walk in to the village. A great hotel with top service. The only downside was the local buses, they didn't run very often and taxi, very expensive!! Best restaurant, Posidonia, lovely greek food and brilliant service! We booked our excursions from Ticket Travel by the bridge. Great service, always with a smile from swedish lady Jessica and her husband. And trips are half price from what your tour operators charge. There are also some ticket offices at the main square but it's a mess of boards and signs and very pushy sales people. We went to Nisyros, Turkey, Kos Town and a 4 bay cruise. All great days out but our favorite was Nisyros, beautiful place! We spent a couple of evenings in the village, a little bit to wild for us around bar street and the square but found a lovely cocktail bar on the other side of the village, Pegasus. We are coming back next year!!
Family run greek restaurant - Dan. Date of travel: Jun 2010
If you are wanting traditional Greek food find out where the Greeks go and eat....! One of these restaurants is the Chrisopoulos Tavern (can be found on the beach its the very last restaurant 5 mins out of the village towards the Mikri Poli hotel.) It's run by Fonda and his English wife Sarah and his sisters in the kitchen, I think this is the key to good food when families have done it for many years they put their heart and soul into producing the very best quality food, served up on ceramic crockery handmade by the family. Regular visitors come back year after year and you can guarantee you will always be remembered by the family. So its well worth the walk for a spectacular view while dining over excellent food, delightful conversation and Fondas and Sarahs humour thrown in at no extra cost. You won't regret it!
Anna's Restaurant - john robinson laura saunderson. Date of travel: Jun 2010
well just got back from Kardamena and me and my partner ate at Anna's restaurant nearly everyday. Breakies are amazing. I advise everyone to go and try for your self... very cheap. Stevo, the owner, couldn't meet a nicer person, he is there all day. The beach is directly from Anna's and Stevo looks after you.. brings you drinks. Very friendly people...what more could you ask for.... Cheers Stevo and your wife very nice people see you soon. Love Laura and John.
Fabulous Greek Taverna Kardamena - Maggie. Date of travel: May 2010
I have just got back from a really restful week in, of all places Kardamena ! I walked for just 5 mins along the west beach road , towards the Aegean Village and came across a really lovely stretch of beach, behind which is the most wonderful Chrisopoulos Family Taverna and for customers the sun beds are free !! Fonda and his english wife Sarah will make you really welcome and all the food is fresh, very Greek, with a great selection of fish and their home grown vegetables. The best Greek food I have ever eaten. They open for breakfast at 9am and close at 6 pm. Please give them a try I promise you wont be dissapointed.
Holiday in Kardamena - Gary & Sue Long. Date of travel: Aug 2009
We have been going for over 10 years now and we love it. The best pool by far is Paradise Pool at the Paraskos apps. Connie and Manoli can't do enough for you. Pavlos bar for cheap drinks (1.50 euros pint) and next door in the Mediterranean sun for food - brill.
Kardamena - Elinor and Ali. Date of travel: Jul 2009
Me and my husband went to Kardamena in the beginning of July and stayed at Stephanos Apartments, which were very central to everything and were nice spacious apartments. Restaurants were great, our favourites being Pelagos for fish, Avli for Greek and at the end of the village Posedonia, which were all recommended to us by the girls we booked our trips with in Offshore Travel who were very helpful. We went on the 3 Bay Cruise with them, which was definitely one of the best days of our holiday, visiting Bubble Beach and getting to dive off the boat. The boat had sunbeds on it, which was very relaxing, and the BBQ was so tasty, cooked for you on the boat by Billy the captain and Marie who worked on the boat. We also did a trip to Turkey, which was very well organised and very hot!! But got some great bargains!! Definitely think we'll be going back again.
Kardamena - Amie, Matt, Beci and Phil. Date of travel: Jul 2009
Great nightlife but also lovely quiet restaurants to choose from if you want it a bit quieter. Blue Pool and Bliss Bar are a must visit as great staff and atmosphere. Garden Bar is a lovely spot for a snack too. Beach is lovely if you walk a bit further up. Great for any age - couples or groups of friends.
Lush Bar - SW-D*CK. Date of travel: Jun 2009

Bring on may
We loved Kardemena - Yvonne & John Moore. Date of travel: May 2009
We loved Kardamena. Plenty of good bars and restaurants. Must try the Avli restaurant and the Blitz bar. Worthwhile taking a boat trip to the nearby island to see the volcano and the quaint Greek village.
Kardamena - Kirstie Soar. Date of travel: May 2009
Kardamena is a really busy little town, espeically at night with the youngsters, but there are loads of restaurants and bars for the older crowd.
Kardamena and its people are lovely just like the resort - Mr Warburton /Mrs S Jones. Date of travel: Oct 2008
I have never been to Greece let alone Kardamena, but my partner persuaded me to go. After the first week I wanted to come home? But then I settled down with my better half and went to see the sights. It was just breathtaking. When we went to Kos for the second time my partner had been before. Then we found a lovely family bar called Pavlos near the end where the Cleopatra Hotels are. What a good time! I even sang on the karaoke (and got a fan club ahem) I loved it that much in the end we are going back next May. And we met some lovely people and made some lovely friends, especially Terry and Murial from Brom. So to all you lovely people in Kardamena we love you from Terry and Sylvia in Manchester, especially Pavlos Dean and the man we did not get his name. Ps Sylvia enjoyed the blow jobs (cocktails ha ha)
I loved Kardamena - Yvonne Sherrard. Date of travel: Sep 2008
I loved Kardamena
If you got to the harbour, there are lovely restaurants to eat such as Alexanders - Really friendly staff, very large portion sizes. Went back twice in my weeks stay. Foo King Gou- Very nice Chinese restaurant which also sells English, Greek and Thai. It sold the best Chinese chicken curry that I have had. Nemos- Again really nice staff, especially one crazy guy! Had the chicken fajitas, really nice....big portion size. Most people are really friendly, make you feel really welcome with the exception of a few people. The nightlife is great, PRs everywhere on a night especially near the harbour trying to get you into there bar. Many of them doing very similar deals like 3 drinks for 5, with a couple of shots thrown in.....or all you can drink in an hour for 10. There are bar crawls organised by reps that take you round the bars and on to a club in Kardamena. The bars I stayed at were Soho - got 3 cocktails for 5....nice cocktails, CVue - got 6 drinks and 10 shots for 10, really good value, the boss there is crazy!!Calypso - Cocktails for 3 each but really nice cocktails with all the works including sparklers on a night time!! And finally Vision offers you the all you can drink option, really friendly staff, the PRs there made our holiday, I loved them! Kardamena is only small, it only takes you half an hour to walk around but there are many trips you can book (they are a lot cheaper near the harbour than with your rep)to go to other islands or Kos town. I went to Bubble beach which was a bit of a let down, couldn't see any bubbles. The Greek night was fantastic, get to try the food and have a taste of the Greek dancing. Only let down for me on that night is our rep drove off without us so we (5 girls) had to walk ten minutes down a mountain in the pitch black so make sure you get to the coach in plenty of time!!!
Kardamena is amazing! - Nikky Sherrard. Date of travel: Sep 2008
Kardamena is amazing!
The good points about Kardamena: The Greek people - The majority are very very friendly and most speak very good English. The nightlife - very cheap drinks, lots of special offers. Bar Vision, C Vue and Soho do lots of good deals like all you can drink for an hour and good deals on cocktails. Calypso is a must go to located on the harbour front - it is a small cocktail bar that has an amazing range of cocktails that come with sparklers and ice cream. The ice creams there are pricey but amazing and the Greek couple who run the place are very friendly. Restaurants - All the restaurants have hundreds of meal choices but I would recommend the following - Fu King Gou on the harbour is the best Chinese I have ever been to and you must go there if you fancy an exceptional Chinese. Scala does brilliant Thai food and Nemo and Alexander's (next to each other) has brilliant and reasonably priced food - the service is very friendly too. The beach - Very clean with crystal clear seas. Lots of sun loungers available if you want them but most of them you have to pay for. Greek night - A trip that can be booked through the rep or independent tour guides. The bad points: Small kids trying to sell glow sticks/cow boy hats - Quite pushy and persistent. Bubble Beach trip - Not as good as it sounds on the Internet, only a very few bubbles which smell like egg. However water sports are significantly discounted there so it is worth your while holding out until there to partake in water sports. Shop around before booking trips with the reps as you can often get them cheaper with independent tour operators.
Kardamena is Perfect - P Blaikie. Date of travel: Jun 2008
First mention has to go to Tim - the Irish guy in the top hat! You can't miss him he seems to work everywhere. Persuades you into Loustros Restaurant for great food and then PRs for bars at night (he worked for 3 during the week we stayed but finished at Xpose). Top Guy! Secondly to everyone at 'The Bands' - Phil, Taz, Craig, Maria, Ryan and the PR from Dundee! They bring out the guitars after midnight to fill the void before the clubs get lively and do some great shots (try a mini Guiness!) and you may get a free t-shirt if you are lucky! Then there is Marti from The Kings Arms! Does a great cocktail - Kings Knackers! Claims he has a secret ingredient but I studied that cocktail and for the life of me don't know what it is! Also do the best Sambucca - really hits the spot! At liquid there is Paula who also stays at the Elga! She's wild and has some great banter. As does Kez who can get you free entry to Status! We also loved The Indigo Room for fish bowls, Bar 1960 for good music and football, H20 and Toxic for shots, Mad Club for indie music, Starlight best club around and last but not least Angela's Bar (on the sea front next to McD's) they do great cocktails at the best price in town 3.50!Watch out though some of them have a serious kick! Cant wait to go back to Kos it's brilliant!
Kardamena - Lynn. Date of travel: May 2008
Been going to Kardamena for a number of years now and would recommend it to anyone. The people are friendly go out of their way to make sure you have a good holiday. Just got back 28th may 2008 cannot wait to get back. Anyone going for the first time go to the banana beach bar you will get great homemade burgers and a good English breakfast and lots more choice. Your hosts are Paul and Carol lovely people good for a laugh and make you very welcome. I can also recommend you go to Pegasus bar lovely friendly people make lovely milkshake with real ice cream. Philipos and Pamela the owners will make you very welcome. If you are thinking of hiring a car go to Hilias car hire on the main road best in Kardamena. They have a wide selection of cars to hire from seats to jeeps. Places to eat evening meals Mediterranean Sun, fantastic food great service lovely people. Also Anna's on the beach, ask for Stevie - great waiter. There is lots of others go try for yourself and have a great time.
Kardamena is aimed at the younger generation - P Turner. Date of travel: Oct 2007
Kardamenu is a beautiful place, lots of bars, restaurants and plenty of night life. Geared more towards the younger generation.

Near Amazon Restaurant
Karedamena is a lovely place. The Sandra's two Johnnie's show bar is great! 100%. BUt I have been informed that the family are having problems with the police and mare as they are a full family bar and want to continue giving the tourist the shows they do. The shows are of an excellent quality and the family are the best people I have met in a long time. The police and the mare are trying to to stop the shows. It is the only show bar in Kardamena and it is there for families. I hav spoken to them on this. The family would love the support of all the family and holidaymakers to stop bars like this one getting stopped from providing entertainment so contact them with your support. They are a lovely family and deserve your support.
Friendly Kardamena - Jim & Rita. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Friendly Kardamena
Plenty of places to chill out in Kardamena. Also shops and service second to none. Could not be more helpful, great choices of restaurants, etc. Great for young and old.
The best holiday you could go on!!!!! - Craig. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Wow only been back two days and already I'm looking for flights back there and become a PR. I couldnt get enough of it... the nightlife there is just unbelievable, Status is just crazy everyone is just loving the music and it is always packed in there so boys you are not going to miss out... and the Bar Street I loved especially Liquid and I loved my House only because I met a little PR called Sophie there!!! During the day it was wicked renting out Quad bikes and just driving about and going on the water sports!!! The whole holiday is just brilliant!! I loved it!!
Amazing! - Dr X. Date of travel: Aug 2007
The nightlife is unbelievable, from 10pm onwards, the whole island becomes a party zone, the music is fantastic and at midnight the clubs open. There will be promotional people or PRs pestering you all week long to come to Starlight, however, apart from saturday night when the foam party is on, I would strongly recommend going to Status. The music is better and it's a lot better club in general.
Beautiful - Lisa Taylor. Date of travel: Aug 2007
It was lovely there....I managed to stay awake for the sunrise by the harbour and that was one of the most amazing sights I've seen.
Brilliant place - Gaz. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Prices on some drinks are a bit pricey so stay away from the Corona but the shots are great. Also if you're good mates with a PR or someone behind the bar you can get money off or even free shots. My advice is to get there about 4:30 - 5:00am because thats when it gets proper lively.
Would not go back - Lisa, Shaun and Maddie. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Town itself a great place for the 18 to 30. Been there done that but it is a lovely place bu definitely would never recommend the hotel to anyone. And as for Skeggy and fish and chips. We are up there with you lot beside the seaside....We were there with all who left reviews and you did a fair bit of moaning to us...
Kardamena not a good place - Gina, Paul, Kaine and Connor. Date of travel: Aug 2007
After having returned from this holiday we can report that the only good thing about the holiday was coming home, we have booked up for another in October as we do not feel like we have had a nice holiday at all. The food was terrible, we also found a maggot in the sweetcorn one night which is enough to put anyone off eating there again! All inclusive facilities were none existant. We were told by the staff at the hotel that it is a 2* rating and not the 4* plus that we were expecting and paid for. The staff were rude, felt as if we were putting them out if we even asked for a drink, all drinks are watered down. Entertainment was rubbish, mini disco consisting of the same CD playing for half an hour EVERY night, followed by bingo then some rubbish adult entertainment. All in all I would not recommend this hotel unless you are looking for a 2* rating!!
Went there for holiday with mates, spent two nights in hospital! - Helen Lee. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Would never go back there because of the injuries received by George, hotel owner of Seva apartments.
Amazing - Holly. Date of travel: Aug 2007
