Skala Kalloni
A get away from it all holiday - Jade. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Skala Kalloni has not yet succumbed to tourism to any great extent so if you want a real authentic Greek holiday then this resort fits the bill. The beach is in a sheltered bay being in an inlet and is sandy shelving gently into the warm sea. There is some seaweed around that at times is a little unsightly. The tavernas is where you will spend your evenings as there are no loud music bars and the food is very traditional and the fish exceptional. Expect in most places for a long meal as the service is slow but very friendly. It should be noted generally all bills are settled by cash and credit cards are not accepted in many places. No public bus service but there are a number of nice walks locally or car hire is not too expensive. Taxis were hard to come by. It is worth taking one of the boat excursions. Also bring a pair of binoculars as this area is well know for a variety of migrating birds.
