Baga Beach is a wonderful place just like anywhere in Goa. The Goans are very friendly and honest hard working people, so don't down them till you get to meet them. Try eating at Athens Bar and Restaurant Baga Beach, serves lovely food, try the delicious pizzas, all freshly made in a wood fire oven. Staff are friendly and are pleased to serve the customers, whether on the beach in the restaurant, which has a shaded garden area. Pop along and pay them a visit, you can watch the Tv, play pool and relax. Enjoy. There are many places to visit in and around Baga, and the neighbouring beaches.

Agree with Jimbob that Safil's is good food and good fun. Open 24 hours and the staff are great. It is a very busy beach and the hawkers do get annoying. Going back next month for the third time. There is something alluring about Goa eventhough there is a lot of poverty and the conditions are not great. If you want it quieter go during Lent. My wife and I love it. Tour Operator: First Choice

Take care in the sea. If it's rough watch out if you are not a strong swimmer. Good food to be had at the Travellers Rest Beach Shack. Good Internet at the Mubli, upstairs in Titos Road. Yasouff for gold rings etc bottom end of Titos Road, Ali has a diamond tester. And his and hers tailors oppossite are good tailors.

Baga beach - Always good. - jimbob. Date of travel: Dec 2007
Baga Beach in India is the busier and younger side of a Goa Holiday. Baga Beach has the best beach and the best of the nightlife. Couples tend to go to Candolim, which is newer and being kept much tidier. The best shack in Baga Beach is Safil's, just to the right, at the bottom of Tito's road. It has a tidy European style toilet, good food and good staff - lots of people just keep going back.

Baga end of beach probably the best and cleanest part of beaches in the North. Calangute very grubby.

We arrived at Baga beach on 2nd December and as soon as we entered the beach we knew we were in the wrong place. The beach was extremely crowded (we might as well have been in Benidorm) and there was no end in locals trying to sell you this or that. To our disappointment, the sea was very rough and we didn't feel safe enough to swim too far. Don't expect to get a nice romantic stroll on the beach as every step you take you have the beach hut owners trying to get you to take up one of their sun beds (you will not get a piece of peace). Baga beach has many restaurant and plenty of shops but I wouldn't rate the food very high (apart from East meets West restaurant where you pay a little more for your meal). We only stayed at Baga for 2 nights when we decided that the resort was far too busy for us. We headed to Palolem beach (Paradise Beach) and the sea there is absolutely gorgeous - you can walk miles in a shallow water and the sea is nice and calm for swimming. Be aware that you will also get pestered by the locals here as well - they are very persistent. The food in general was very average to poor. I actually got back with a stomach virus and to certain extent this does not surprise me. I wouldn't recommend Baga or Palolem for families with small children for various reasons for example because at Baga the sea is too rough for swimming and too crowded as well, the food is not great and I would be cautious what and where to eat. At Palolem the nightlife is catered mainly for hippy types (drugs are quite evident and most often openly used especially smoking dobe). Always best to wear shoes/sandals during the day and night just in case of any dirty needles (both at Baga and Palolem). Both Baga and Palolem are nothing but casual so I would leave all evening gowns at home. T-shirts and shorts are what everyone is wearing (not good for those who like to dress up (like me)). The weather this time of the year is absolutely gorgeous - 33C every day and not a cloud in the sky. Goa is very cheap - the 2.5hr taxi ride from Baga to Palolem cost £9.00. Average 2 course meals for 2 costs £6.00. Your money will go far in Goa. Tour Operator: My travel

Baga is fab, a girlie shopping paradise, a bit of commercialised retail but still traditional small shops and stalls, the chapati man calls by each morning! Happily the less desirable holiday companions tend to stay in Calangute and Candolim. Give it a try. Try flying charter and booking rooms direct with small ventures like the Miranda's.
