Costa Smeralda
The Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) of north east Sardinia is the island’s upmarket “Riviera”, the holiday playground of rich Italians and international jet-setters. Marinas filled with sleek yachts line the coastline, which also sports plenty of lovely beaches and rocky coves, the white sand offset by pinkish granite rocks and lush blossom-filled landscape. Development hasmore gone a little crazy here, with expensive malls, villas and hotels sprouting in and around the local villages, but the scenic beauty and charm remains.
