Runaway Bay was a great base for excursions. For example Dunns River was 20 minutes away. Dolphin Cove is a must -best experience ever!Locals can sometimes be a little intimidating but a polite "no thanks " will have them on their way. For something different try Hooves horse riding where they take you through the mountains and end riding through the water at their private beach.
