What I loved about the region - S Keech. Date of travel: Jun 2006
Our visit was the explore the Mayan culture and tradition and there is so much to do whilst staying in Playa del Carmen. We spent three days visiting the Mayan ruins at Chichten Izta, Coba and Tulum. My favourite being the latter, which is the only Mayan settlement to be found on the coast amongst the Palm trees and lush vegetation. We also spent two days at the eco parks, Xel-Ha and Xcaret, where there is so much to do, including snorkeling through an underground river! Another trip was in speedboats through the lagoon and snorkeling on the reef, which I found out was the second largest after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. But there is so much more to do and see that we are lucky to be leaving for our third visit this weekend and I can't wait! Tour Operator: Airtours/Thomson
