Witsand - Breede River Mouth - Marianne Weyers. Date of travel: Jan 2007
Breede River is a great place for a family holiday! My husband and the kids love fishing and I really enjoyed relaxing on the shore or swimming in the shallows of the river mouth. We stayed in a house with steps leading through milkwoods onto the beachfront and could just shoot home if we forgot anything or if I wanted to have an afternoon nap. We had a great holiday, Witsand is ideal for a summer beach break and with the Breede River running into the ocean is a beautiful setting. We made a lot of braais (barbeques) and spent most of our time outdoors. The town only has one shop so bring all your necessities with you. It does sell the essentials though and wood is cheap.
Fun and relaxing - George Cartmill. Date of travel: Apr 2006
The kids had so much fun playing in the river, tubing and waterskiing... Had time to fish, relax in the sun and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. A great getaway not too far from Cape town. Did have a horrible run in with a puffadder but managed to back away and it slithered off. Glad it was me and not one of the children, but still scared the hell out of me!!
