Gordons Bay
Shortly after leaving the havoc of the city behind, visitors to Gordon’s Bay are continually bowled over by the magnificent natural beauty of this picturesque seaside town. The beautiful fynbos mountains slope gently into the wide bay, bordered by holiday houses, where residents make to the cool Atlantic waters for excellent bodysurfing, swimming, fishing andmore
Great views over False Bay - Linda Steere. Date of travel: Mar 2004
Gordon's Bay is only an hour from Cape Town, just beyond Somerset West on the N2. It is a very low key holiday village which was once a base for the SA Navy. It has striking views over False Bay to the Cape Peninsula and has a couple of nice beaches. The is a great eatery by the marina which serves great prawns, oysters, lobster etc... at a fairly reasonable price. Good excursions include trips to Stellenbosch (20 mins) and the wineries, and the beautiful drive along the coast to Betty's Bay where you can see a colony of penguins!
