Wonderful - Ben. Date of travel: Apr 2006Stellenbosch is lovely - beautiful and a great day trip from CApe town. Wine tasting is a MUST on one of the wine farms around and there is also the Simonsberg cheese factory - YUMMY! There are plenty of wide, leafy streets to wander and some fascinating museums - a real treat is are the House museums (not sure what they are called in Afrikans), 4 of the oldest houses (including the oldest in the country thats still standing) and one buys one ticket and you can go to all of them. Different styles and also different classes of people and that is reflected in the architecture and furniture etc. Fascinating. there are also plenty of restaurants and bars and a fun stop is Oom Samies Winkel (shop) which is like an old style stall filled with all sorts of things - curios and bottles of candy etc. Definitely a great trip to make and so peaceful and enjoyable.
