Knysna Nature Playground - Jaco & Michelle. Date of travel: Apr 2008
The lagoon, the sea, the forest...you mention it and Knysna has it. We enjoyed the morning walks on Brenton Beach and our walks in the Knysna Forest. Dining options are awesome with three restaurants on the shortlist of South Africa’s best, located in Knysna.

New restaurants - Fred Aliverti. Date of travel: Apr 2007
There is lots to do around Knysna for children and adults. Plett is only 30 minutes away, there are a couple of elephant parks, where you can feed elephants, a monkey park, fishing, sailing, boating, great beaches... This was the first time I have spent much time in Knysna. There has been some new development here, which was controversial as it was on the site of an old sawmill which employed lots of locals, but that aside it is a great addition to the town with New Hampshire style houses and some great restaurants. I'm not sure how they will survive in the off season but they will be packed in summer.

Definite Garden Route highlight - Geraldine. Date of travel: Dec 2006
Knysna is a lovely town and this is the first time I have actually stayed there. Had a chance to explore a little and had a wonderful meal at the waterfront (best Greek food I have had and very accommodating as they were booked up and still squeezed a table for us - cant remember the name tho!). Lovely views and very relaxing. Took a drive up to the west head and wandered around - spectacular views and some caves to explore. Although pretty crowded and rather touristy, Knysna is still very charming and we had a lovely stay. Definite must if on the Garden Route!

Quaint but touristy - Angela Brunswick. Date of travel: Aug 2006
Knysna was once a sleepy little village, but is now a bustling and overdeveloping tourist mecca. it still has its quaint charms and is spectacularly beautiful, but crowded in peak season. A good time to visit (although it is PACKED to the rafters) is during the Knysna Oyster Festival in June/July . It is well worth exploring the nearby forests (hoping for a glimpse of the handful of remaining, ever elusive Knysna elephants)... Lovely but expect the usual tourist tat in town. The Garden Route itself is spectacular and such a pleasant journey. Enjoy!
