Roquetas de Mar itself is a sprawling resort, run down in some places, whilst a lot of new buildings in other parts. There is a nice marina and loads of bars and restaurants. There is a nice shopping area and a couple of miles away is a modern shopping mall.

Roquetas itself just great, loads of tapas, try the Coconut bar, tapas every 10 minutes. No need to travel far. Beach is superb never crowded.

Roquestas de Mar was a laid back resort without the full blooded commercialism of the other Costas. The only negative was the beach was sand and shingle and certainly not the best for children. Try one if the Tapas bars and also get the local bus into Almeiria for a day. Avoid using the tour operator for tours look locally for better value. Tour Operator: Thomas Cook
