Cambrils was lovely, very Spanish at the time we were there not too many foreign tourists and most importantly no rowdies! Lovely food, I'd recommend eating in the bars tucked away in the back streets, because the atmosphere of a family run restaurant is just so much better. The general rule here seemed to be - the bigger "more upmarket" restaurant, the smaller the portions, slower service and food that is just about bordering average. Had the experience in a wine tasting restaurant called "Gran Chic". Oh what a drag. Staff did not understand English (didn't even make the effort) and menu was all in Spanish. It took 50 minutes to get our food, which although lovely presented, not exceptionally good. At the end of what proved to be the longest lunch ever we found that we were not only overcharged, but also charged for items we've never even ordered! Different experience was Restaurant "Els dofins" A small, family run place with the most amazing paella! The menus were in several languages (English, French, Italian, German, etc) and staff were very friendly, attentive and really went out of their way to make our dining experience pleasant. I do not need to mention that it was also an excellent value for money. So, not posh, but my oh my what food!

We like Cambrils becaus it's clost to Port Aventura; our Grandchildren love it there, and so do all the family, its well worth a visit for any age group. We booked the park using the telephone number on the website for the park, it happened to be in Birmingham, what a bargain, 14 days for the price of three. If you want a water park, the one in La Pineda is much nicer than Costa Caribe, the water is warmer, and there is also a Dolphin Show included in the price, La Pineda is quite a nice resort too, some lovely restaurants and cafés.
