Koh Samui - Eddy & Rachel. Date of travel: Mar 2008
We love Koh Samui. It is best to stay in the Chaweng area and we recommend the Muang Samui resort. All you need is at your door. Eat at Prego, Kantara, Rasaburi or Green Olive, The Cliff Bar and Restaurant, and you must try Sila Evason dining on the rocks, beautiful. Food at Darasamui was nice too. Shop at Chandra and Centuary 22 for the girls. Do lots of walking on the beach. And don't bother with people on motorbikes who ask if you speak english or french or whatever, they want to get you into a sales trap, just say "no thanks" and they will know that you know what they are up to and will move on in search of prey elsewhere. Get a massage at a place called "My friend massage" they have a yellow sign, very clean, nice people, be sure to give a little tip. Smile be happy and enjoy Thailand!

Koh Samui is idylic. The beaches are amazing with the sea lapping around your feet and the distant thud of co-conuts falling to the floor. The people are amazingly friendly. The resort of Chewang beach has lots to offer, plenty of restaurants to suite all tastes and lots of nightlife.
Koh Samui - Claire. Date of travel: Jan 2004
Koh Samui is the biggest of the islands. It's really nice because, depending on which area of the island you stay, you can have varied types of holidays. We stayed in Bophut the first night. It is much quieter and more rural than the rest of the island. We stayed the remaining nights in Lamai, which is also pretty relaxed, but has bigger lodges than Bophut. There is more of a main street with restaurants and plenty of shopping. Chaweng is the place to go if you're looking for clubs, bars and the best restaurants. The nightlife on Chaweng is awesome. And it will only cost about 50 Baht to catch a 'tuk tuk' home. This is definitely the island to hang out on if you are looking for a non-stop party. It is also only about a 30minute boat ride across to Koh PagNgan where the infamous 'full moon party' is held.
