Koh Tao
The Thai island of Koh Tao has the reputation of being as beautiful under the sea as it is above. The island has become a favourite holiday destination for scuba divers and snorkelers, who besiege the 25 designated dive sites off of its coast, where the coral and sea-life create a magical experience. Sailing Koh Tao - Sarah. Date of travel: Mar 2008
If travelling to the Islands within the gulf of Thailand, a visit to Koh Tao is a must. Still relatively unspoilt by tourism and away from the hords of party goers and up market resorts of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The highlight of my trip to Koh Tao was sailing with Island Cruises, a sailing company on Koh Tao. Great snorkelling in Mango Bay, good fun fishing even though I didn't catch anything. Great food beautiful day even better sunset.
Morava Restaurant in Sairee - Jo and darren. Date of travel: Apr 2007
Whether you are going for a simple dinner or for a special occasion I cannot recommend this enough. We have visited Koh Tao a few times, and early 2007 we decided to get married there, we wanted to do it on as little as possible, so we booked a ceremony package to take place on Sairee Beach. Then we haved to find somewhere for our meal/reception, having been to Morava previously and had the most wonderful food and service , we decided that it would be perfect. I emailed the owner, Tanner, and he bent over backwards to help us out. We arranged for after the beach ceremony for Canapes on the beach all of which Tanner and his staff did, they brough a wonderful selection, cold champagne and wine, glasses, tables and cloths, It was wonderful. We then all headed to the restaurant, and on our arrival had a fantastic surprise where a white billowing Bedouin tent and drapes had been arranged in an area of the restaurant, to give our party of 12 some privacy from the other diners, there were arrangemnets of flowers and candles. It was stunning, and more than we could have hoped for. We were all able to choose anything from the menu (so I didn't have to worry about the restrictions of a set menu). Being a northerner I ordered fish pie, which was the best fish pie I have EVER tasted (thanks ED), the service was impeccable, and made our wedding just perfect, and to finish Tanners chef made us a delicious Kahlua Cheesecake wedding Cake, decorated with thai orchids, Just fantastic.
I loved Koh Tao - Pete. Date of travel: Feb 2006
Set among palm trees on beautiful Sai Nuan beach, Sai Thong Resort is only accessible by longtail boat. The Bungalows are very basic with cold water only, all are equiped with fans and mosquito nets. They all have balconies with hammocks on them. Electricity is available from 6pm till 1 am. The restaurant serves delicious food at very reasonable prices. The staff were all very polite. There is no night life or TVs at Sai Thong but the Siam Cookies bungalows next door has a bar/disco right on the beach. Sai Thong has a spa and massage centre, beach volley ball court, small library. There is a scuba shack right on the beach where you can hire snorkel equipment. The water around the resort is clear and full of fish and coral.
