Just an airport with a few hotels by the beach, that's all! - Lynn Corbett. Date of travel: Oct 2007
Nothing in Skanes except a salt plant, plenty of mosquitoes, a few hotels and the very noisy airport!

There are quite a few places to see in Skanes/Monastir. Go and have a look at the Mausoleum and the Ribat at Monastir only a short taxi ride from Neptunia A taxi costs only approx 10 dinar (equivelent to £4.10).

Skanes beaches are lovely - Cheryl and Lewis. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Skanes is purpose built along the beach and has just a large number of hotels. There are no restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity. However, little village within walking distance and Monastir and Sousse are very close by either bus or taxi. Ideal location to the airport as it is a 10 minute transfer which prevents the sitting on buses for hours after arrival!

Don't go - Zoe and 11 others. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Skanes is not a resort, it's a beach with a few hotels and a tiny shopping place with a bar and a restaurant. It has one shop in there too.
Don't be fooled by the picture, that's the outside of the tiny shopping place. Sunshine can make anything look good.

Skanes as a whole is a place I would never visit again. There is nothing there outside of the resorts and to totally enjoy the Tunisian experience I found I had to travel to Port el Kantouai. This however had great nightlife. I was only disappointed at the fact that I had to spend stupid amounts of extra money to taxi there and back when I paid alot of money to holiday in Sahara Beach Skanes!

Tunisia is a nice holiday place providing you keep your wits about you. Monastir is great for haggling and picking up bargains. You do have to watch each other though, and your money. You will get lots of hassle to buy things, but just keep walking and say no thank you if you prefer to walk around first. The Yasmine centre is in the middle of all the bazaars and shops. This is a fixed price shop and you can buy everything here without the hassle if you prefer. It's massive and worth a look. Don't get on a horse and cart, just say no thanks. They take you to places and make you buy. Always keep walking when you are out and about. Don't believe what people say when they come up to you in the street. Walk on!!!! Tour Operator: Panorama

Skanes and Monastir - an experience! - Barmy Sue. Date of travel: May 2006
Theres nothing much in Skanes, just a few hotels dotted along the shore. Take a bus into Monastir for about 50p and you will find everything you could need and more. Bargain hunting in the medina is the most fun ever. As long as you keep your wits about you and keep smiling and have a laugh with the guys selling their wares you will be fine. All you need to remember is that nothing is for free so if it is offered, say no! I loved it here and will be returning. Tour Operator: 1st choice

This hotel is very good for famlies, offering children various activites throughout the day and evening. The hotel, pool area and beach are kept to a high standard at all times. Staff members are very helpful and polite. Had no problems with the food: a wide variety given most meal times. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday for famlies of all ages.
