Marmaris
A holiday in Marmaris, one of Turkey’s most frenetic resorts, can best be described as “cheap and cheerful”, with its bazaars offering fake designer goods along with the local crafts; touts competing to entice visitors into the wild pubs, clubs and variety of restaurants; while watersports and excursion operators tempt everyone to try anything andmore

Marmaris has everything, shops clubs, restaurants, it is good for old and young, nice beach, lots to do, never a dull moment!
Best hoilday destanation - Natalie. Date of travel: Oct 2007
Marmaris was the best hoilday destanation to go to if you like the history side of things. The views were so beautiful some times you counldn't believe your eyes. The views at night were amazing as well all the different coloured lights near the sea front made your eyes light up. Marmaris and this area of Turkey is very beautiful and its worth paying a visit for a few weeks.
Excellent - Nas K. Date of travel: Oct 2007
Marmaris is a very good place, beach, bars nightlife, shopping etc. Everything you need whilst abroad, it's available, a very high availability on different types of food.
We loved Marmaris - Mrs Susan Fergus. Date of travel: Oct 2007
We liked our holiday in Marmaris very much and would certainly visit again, though maybe in summer months not October. Plenty of great places to eat lots of choice. Went on boat trip to Daylan, bit of a disaster weather wise. Also got marrooned on Turtle Island so a bit scary especially as it was getting dark and very cold before we managed to get back onto our big boat the Orca.
Armutalan area - Carol Middleton. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Been going to Marmaris for 14 years now and would never consider anywhere else. Plenty to do and see. Try the Albatros Bar near the beachfront. It's great, 60s/70s music, say hello to Halim the owner. Plenty of great places to eat and drink for all ages. Made loads of friends there, the Turkish people are just fantastic.
We Totally adored Marmaris - Peter and Valerie. Date of travel: Sep 2007
We Totally adored Marmaris
First time in Turkey and It will definitely not be our last time. The people were fantastic and the hotel was great, unfortunately I am an English food eater so I did not sample the Turkish food but what they did serve me was always well cooked and tasty.
Enjoy and make the most of your holiday - Ellen Geary & Alan Shorey. Date of travel: Sep 2007
You can get on a number 3 bus outside hotel. 1 Lira (approx 40p) will take you to Marmaris bus station. Great shops and really big indoor bazaar. Markets are Wednesdays - Icmeler. Thursdays -Marmaris. Lovely beaches. Lovely Harbour with plenty of restaurants. Also go to Icmeler just along the coast for a day.
Great beach - Angie & Shaz. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Only went into Marmaris twice on our weeks holiday, great shops and bars all along the front. Beach area was very clean.
Great place - Eleanor. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Go to Sandras Cafe for English food. Watch out for the hair dresser called Ozzie, he's evil.
Marmaris is a great place to go! Fun and hot - Simon Nevitt. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Lots of good resturants and the nightlife is spot on. Lots of things to keep everyone occupied for days not to mention hours.
Marmaris can be a mixed bag depending on where you stay - Andy and Lorraine. Date of travel: Sep 2007
The busy parts of Marmaris were like visiting Blackpool on speed. Be prepared to haggle and you can get good bargains but it gets very waring to be hassled everytime you walk down the street. The Thursday market offers good value. We personally would not return and if you don't have a tattoo you won't fit in.
Lovely - Paul Slaney. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Marmaris was lovely, the golden orange hotel was lovely, thanks Chris for your help and support while we were there.
Very nice - Nat and Jon. Date of travel: Sep 2007
Marmaris overall is very nice! It wasnt a place that I wanted to come to but it was a cheap late deal so thought I'd give it a whirl and I thought it was better than the Canaries!!
Talk of the WORLD!! - Tarts in Turkey. Date of travel: Sep 2007
If there's one thing you've got to do in Marmaris, it's see Talk of the Town at Cheers bar. It's the most fun you'll ever have. Cheers bar itself is amazing. Fantastic staff who work tirelessly throughout the day to give you anything you ask for, a drink - it's yours, food - they'll get it, even if they don't sell it, activities - they'll arrange them !! GO TO CHEERS... it's fabulous
Marmaris - Brilliant resort for families. - Dell and Diane. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Just been back for the third time and loved it. However, would recommend self catering over hotels since the cost of eating out in restaurants is way up this year - not only are the menu prices higher, but less incentives were being offered, ie. free meals for kids, cheap drinks etc. There is loads to do but...don't buy trips from your tour company rep unless you enjoy paying a 60% markup!!! Yes 60% is the average pricehike your tour operator will add to the street price. Boat trips are probably the best value day out - £30 will get a family of 4 breakfast, lunch, and all beer & soft drinks included along with no end of swimming, snorkelling, & sightseeing fun. The best water park is Aqua Dream, our kids loved it, again - it's not what you'd find in Orlando maybe but there are no queues and it's a lot of fun. Oh don't pay the entry fee at the park though - you'll get a 25% or more discount at the street travel agents (all over town) and they'll supply transport as well. Shop around for any trips and you'll get a good price on anything. Enjoy!!
Marmaris - Chelsea. Date of travel: Aug 2007
When I stayed in Marmaris the weather was great. Both times the atmosphere was good and the people where nice. I most enjoyed the nightlife walking along the beach going into the bars. The food in Marmaris was better than imagined, sometimes I thought I was home. When I next visit Turkey I will definitely stay in Marmaris.
I loved Marmaris because of the people I met there and the atmosphere - Chelsea. Date of travel: Aug 2007
The good point of Marmaris is that it's cheap and you meet a lot of new people there and I dont think there are any bad points.
Club Meridyen Apart - Mr & Mrs Fleming. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Lots to do at Marmaris like the market at Isabella on a Wednesday and Marmaris Market on Thursday. The Village Tour, The Jeep Safari, and The Horse Tour was very good. Two lovely hotels to visit with your partner and kids were the Epic Apartments and Club Julian in Marmaris. These both will let you use all their facilities at no extra cost.
I loved Turkey - Victoria Jasonleigh. Date of travel: Aug 2007
We ate at Violets, directly opposite hotel, quite a few times. All their meals were very nice and extremely reasonable. We also ate at Carols bar, around the corner to the right of the hotel, and their food was great too. We tried Mustis after being recommended but found it VERY expensive. They advertised the breakfast as being £1.90 which should have been around 4.75 YTL but on the bill it came to 6 YTL. They also charge 15 YTL for 2 Fantas! When you compare this to 5 YTL in Violets you can see how expensive they are! We had some lovely days out with Katie at Nostradamus Travel, just underneath our hotel. Enjoyed two beautiful boat trips with them, great for our tans! We were also recommended by EVERYONE to do her Jeep Safari, and it was the best day of our holiday! We laughed so hard, all day, and got such a lovely tan in the open top jeeps, not to mention a lovely cool breeze all day. It was a way for us to see the real, uncommercialised Turkey and I would advise everyone to try it. We didn't think to much of Marmaris beach as you had to pay for everything and there was always somebody hassling you to buy something. Icmeler was a short bus ride away, orange bus, I think, and that had a much nicer beach. Nightlife was good, Club Arena being our favourite place in Bar Street. We also went to the Beach Front clubs a few times, number 3 blue bus, and that was more chilled out than Bar Street.
Nice location - Andrew. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Marmaris was beautiful, the scenery was great. Lots of markets and the beach was good.
Excellent - Kirsty Bryant. Date of travel: Aug 2007

Marmaris Is Great - Jade Lane. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Marmaris in Turkey is the best, especially the people there. They are so caring and very funny. When I went on holiday in Marmaris I couldn't stop laughing, the locals made me laugh so much that my sides hurt for weeks! I have all my friends there who call me their 'little sister'. I miss Totti Alex, Rodney and 2pac, they are the best brothers ever and I will definitely see them again in August.
Marmaris - Jane and David. Date of travel: Aug 2007
Both Marmaris town and people very welcoming and interesting.
Maramis is amazing - Lorraine Wall. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Mamaris is really lively and has some lovely shops. If you are into more of a quiet holiday there is some quiet bars you could go to but otherwise it is brilliant for partying!
Armutulan and Marmaris - A. Date of travel: Jul 2007
The resort of Armutulan is excellent, there’s a wide variety of pubs and restaurants including English pubs, Turkish ones, a 60s and 70s bar and even a Simpsons themed one! The shops sell excellent fake designer gear because of relaxed copyright laws in Turkey, and bargains can be found by haggling with the shop owners as they are likely to knock off a huge chunk of the price if you know how to work them. Speak a bit of Turkish and you’re well away. The local Dolmus number 2 takes you into Marmaris itself for 1 lira, which is a gorgeous place surrounded by mountains with a stony beach and expensive boats cruising around the harbour. There’s plenty to find to do in the markets, on the seafront such as jet skiing and water activities, and many shops to browse round. You will find a lot of English people there too, which can be helpful and makes you feel a bit less lost! In conclusion the hotel is fine as long as you can afford to eat out and don’t spend all your time there, the rooms do the job perfectly and we have no complaints about the rooms - just beware of the food! Make sure you book some excursions out with the Timo Tours guys down the road, the Lazy Day Boat Trip and Turkish Baths are recommended, as is a Moonlight Cruise which a belly dancer visits and you get to cruise around the harbour at midnight. Take plenty of money ‘cos there’ll be loads to see and do and enjoy your holiday!
brilliant place - michael duke. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Great place, visit a Chinese place called the Mandirin and a restaurant/bar called Cihan Turk. They had a guy called Bojo playing his guitar singing any song you want, he was unbelievable. I can't believe he's not gone further than playing in a bar.
Great in Marmaris - Yaeger. Date of travel: Jul 2007
I loved Marmaris, just wish I was nearer to it to explore more areas of it. Don't buy from bizarre in centre, wait till market day at Icmeler on a Wednesday, everything so much cheaper. Seven quality t-shirts £10. I stocked up for my lad. Know your exchange rate and barter cause if they can rip you they will. Believe. Great nightlife but I find drink a rip off here, let alone on holiday so pop a small bottle of what you fancy in your handbag, and stick to a little nip to toilets to slip a drink in, no-one will know. Saves a fortune too. Overall a great holiday but could have done more if been closer to resort. Lovely country will definetly be visiting again.
Highly recommended - Ciara McDonald. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Marmaris is a brilliant friendly place, lots to do ranging from water sports to day trips to clubs and restaurants.
I loved Marmaris - Di Wright. Date of travel: Jul 2007
Marmaris has everything for everyone. You can have the clubbing or the quiet. The people are wonderful and it will be a holiday you will want to repeat as we have many many times.
Marmaris - Julie, Lucy, Nicola, Grannie, Becky, Bradley, Mal and Chris. Date of travel: Jul 2007
The best part of the holiay was going down to the beach front every night, drinking cocktails, fishbowls and seeing sexy Billy :) Baby Ali, James, Charlie, Nico and all the others! All the Turkish men are very friendly and will do anything they can to help you! Food is very nice in Marmaris and also very cheap! Clothes and handbags are also cheap especially from the markets! Already booked for next year! Can't wait to get back! See you all soon! Love all of us xXx
Susan Davey. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Our holiday in Marmaris was really good. The men will ask you too much to come in there shops but overall, just move along and say no thanks. Try the Dalyan trip, it's a really fantastic day out.
I love Marmaris and have been 5 times - Justine & Ashlee. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Marmaris is absolutely fantastic the nightclubs are amazing! I have been to Marmaris 5 times and will never get bored of going there! Me and my friend are supposed to be going here to work for 7 months next year & we can't wait! We are practically counting down the days. I would recommend Marmaris to everyone, you will not be disappointed. Everyone says that the Turkish guys are sleazy, some are but most of them, well the biggest majority of them, are just trying to be friendly, it's just the way they are.
Marmaris was so good - Kimberley & Amy. Date of travel: Jun 2007
The night clubs in Marmaris were the best. Eg. Talk Of The Town. I loved it and the clothes shops were good too xx
Friendly town - Mary Duckett. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Marmaris does not really have many bad points only have to watch for pickpockets in the markets which every resort has, old town is exceptional and worth a visit, the harbour and its many vessels is interesting. Over the years Marmaris has grown into a great holiday spot, every year you can see the town council makes improvements which is good, love the town.
Marmaris fun or humdrum - Helen. Date of travel: Jun 2007
Nice place, sometimes bar/restaurant tauts a bit pushy. Very touchy feely which can be uncomfortable particularly for children. otherwise friendly and helpful and very pleasant.
Marmaris - A Carlisle. Date of travel: May 2007
We have been coming to Marmaris for 10 years and still love it. Still plenty to do and we never tire of the numerous trips on offer. We went to Emre Turkish Bath for the first time this year having tried many before and it was fantastic and would definitely recommend this one. It is along past Migros.
Marmaris is great - Margt, Sam, Ross. Date of travel: Sep 2006
Plenty good eating places In Marmaris but especially Always Restaurant Bar, great food and friendly staff, great cocktails too. Mad Hatters pub is a great place for a drink and good music too, all in Marmaris. It has plenty great places.
Love Marmaris - Shell Ken. Date of travel: Jul 2006
Beautiful place to stay. Marmaris is a wonderfull place to holiday -we have been now 8 times i would recomend b&b or self catering as to eat out is very cheap. We have just got back and will be going back later this year. We do late deals as there is only 2 of us now all the children have grown up. Tour Operator: jewel in the crown gold trail
Marmaris is absolutely fantastic - Yussif, Angie, Sarah. Date of travel: Jul 2006
Marmaris is excellent..plenty of shops..bars..restaurants..excursions..friendly people..beach isn't up to much but there is always Icmeler just down the road for a bigger, better beach. i recommend the Faros beach bar which is situated right on the beach just next door to the Maris Beach hotel..absolutely fantastic music..shows,such as michael jackson..tarkan..karaoke..grease show..waiters line dancing is fantastic..shaggy..erdal..mahoney..nazim..eric..erkan.ridvan r to name but a few of the waiters..great guys, really look after you..true entertainers..try it out..going again soon... We think Marmaris is great - Colin. Date of travel: Jul 2006
Don't ever book through Vision Holidays off teletext cos we got ripped off big time an they'll probably do the same to you. You have got to try 'natalies steak house' on the beach front as the fillets are huge. We have been twice now and are planning for our next trip but definately with a different tour operator. Tour Operator: vision holidays
Marmaris is great. - Gemma, Jilly, Peter.. Date of travel: Jun 2006
Mascot = good food Captains down the beach front are like family as well the same as Cheers (talk of the town) night club. We have been 3 times this year to Marmaris and we are always well looked after. The Aloe hotel has nice staff. So does nearly everywhere in Marmaris. 1 thing for sure these guys know how to treat you good.
Marmaris - Alana Speirs. Date of travel: May 2006
I love the town it was beautiful at night time they had lights all around the town and they had writing in the sky saying come to etc bars. It was fantasic and you will have to go to the market it is brilliant and you can bargin with them to come down to your price eg. say something was 20 pound say you will only give them ten pounds if they say no walk out of the shop and they should call you back they are mad for English money so dont bring Turkish money with you, it is more dear. I would go back to Marmaris again.
I love marmaris - Emma and Megan Duncan. Date of travel: Feb 2006
Overall we think marmaris is a brilliant place to be and we probably wouldn't pick to go anywhere else. Also the Turkish people are really lovely. Tour Operator: GOING PLACES
Amazing love it!!! - Ashleigh. Date of travel: Feb 2006
Been to Marmaris 7 times, and going back again this year. It has something for everyone. Cant imagine going anywhere else on holiday. Recommended bars have to be Always restaurant (say hi to leo, musti, gino, figo, migo, dino and aaron ;) all so friendly and always geting you up to dance. Try Musti's Sex on the Beach cocktail, its amazing, but wait to happy hour n get buy 1 get 1 free:) Also try Beach club, Bar x, Cheers, Salt n Pepa and Longbeach: all great. During the day try quad biking and full day boat trips and all water sports on the beach front. Only thing is beach is volcanic sand but didnt bother me. If you want a sandy beach Icemeler is 5 mins by dolmus away. Tour Operator: Manos
We loved Turkey - May Deakin. Date of travel: Oct 2005
We went to Turkey for the first time last April and loved it, so much so we came home and went back again 3 weeks later, then again in October. We have also booked to go back this year in May. It is a great friendly place to go. I know you get a bit of hassle from the shopkeepers and bars but a firm No Thank you seemed to work for us. We found Elvis bar to be great: 60 pence for a pint 60 pence for breakfast. It was the Elvis bar near to Adam and Eves, but most of the resturants in that area were cheap. Dont forget to do one of the all day boat trips; book them down at the harbour they are much cheaper. We payed £10 each and that included beeing picked up at your hotel, breakfast, lunch and all your drinks whether it was tea, coffee, soft drinks, or booze, that plus a lovely day out cruising can't be bad. Tour Operator: Thomas Cook
Karen Jordan. Date of travel: Aug 2005
Marmaris was great for our first time there. The beach lovely but the constant harrassment to go into the bars/restaurants was a pain. We found some fab bars/restaurants for our meals which were very cheap. The Rovers Return for breakfast - £2. The Rose and Crown for the beer 99p pint, and their food was very cheap too aswell as tasty. The Portofino was great too with free starter and free melon as the 3rd course. We found the staff to be so friendly and helpful in each of these bars. I totally recommend them. We never used the tour op for our day trips but also watch the tour shops. Best to go direct to the harbour for your boat trips as they don't charge commission. It's Icemeler for us next year as I really enjoyed Turkey but Marmaris was more a 'mini Blackpool'; great for the kids but the hassle of being dragged into every bar and restaurant wore me out. Icemeler is a little quieter. Tour Operator: Jewel in the Crown
Saffron. Date of travel: Aug 2005
Marmaris beach is crap! Though everyone is friendly and the food is great! But NEVER travel with Scott travel. Anyway, I reccommend the mudbath and the turkish baths because it has very hot guys and the massages are great, though avoid the oil massage becaause the dude who did mine nearly broke every bone in my body (well... it felt like it). Anyway if you're going there check out Leo's bar at the Club Mefa. Everyone is friendly. The pig and whistle in icmeler is also good. ;-) saffyxx ps. the drivers are maniacs. pps. by the way if you see a guy called Nimo stay away. he's mine!! ooh, mand try meze and that bread with garlic butter (not ideal for vampires) and try it in restaurants where it's on the house. Go to Alize and try to get the waiters to give you a free drink. good luck. Tour Operator: Scott Travel
Becci and Charlotte. Date of travel: Jul 2005
Marmaris itself is fantastic we absolutely loved it and are going back next year. The people are friendly and funny and I will recommend you go to BarX which is situated on the seafront. It was hilarious with all the bar staff. I also recommend u try the fish bowl, it was fantastic. Tour Operator: My Travel

Awonderful place for shops and the market.Fantastic bargains. We will definetly be going to Turkey again this year. Tour Operator: first chouic
Nicola Jones. Date of travel: May 1998
Due to the location of the position of the accomodation we didn't visit the resort very often, however the thing that impressed me the most was the friendleness of the locals and the cheapness of the shopping.
