Canberra Travel Guide
Australia's capital, Canberra, is a city designed for discovery, where history, culture, and natural beauty come together. Located about 177 miles (284km) from Sydney and 411 miles (661km) from Melbourne by road, it offers visitors a blend of iconic landmarks and scenic surroundings.
The city is home to more than 30 national galleries, museums and memorials. Highlights include Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial, as well as the Captain Cook Memorial Jet on Lake Burley Griffin, which shoots water up to 500 feet (152m) into the air.
Canberra is also perfect for outdoor exploration. Visitors can cycle or stroll around the lake, kayak its waters, or plan a spring visit to Floriade, the city's famous flower festival, when gardens burst into vibrant colours. History, culture, and nature are all within easy reach.
