Public transport in Manama is limited, and most residents rely on private cars. While buses connect major cities across Bahrain, they can be less convenient for visitors navigating the capital.
Taxis and ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Careem are common ways for travellers to get around. Taxis are generally available, but visitors should ensure the meter is used, as some drivers may quote inflated fixed fares. If the driver refuses, it's best to find another cab. Night-time and hotel or airport pickups may incur surcharges.
Hiring a car is a practical option for those wanting to explore beyond Manama. While some central areas are walkable, the city overall isn't especially pedestrian-friendly. Bahrain's road network is well-maintained, and most major routes lead through Manama. However, traffic can be heavy during peak hours.

Short- and long-term parking facilities are available in front of the terminal. Cashier counters operate 24 hours at the exits. A free shuttle bus service runs between the terminal and the long-term car parks.
