Mykonos Travel Guide

The cosmopolitan and picture-perfect island of Mykonos attracts thousands of cruise passengers every year; the island's boutique-lined paved streets, white-washed houses with blue doors, and picturesque harbour never seem to go out of fashion. This upmarket Greek island is possibly the most exclusive of all the Greek islands and has a thriving party scene with lively beach clubs and bars. But despite the busy nightlife and glitzy guests, this island has managed to retain its natural and traditional charm. Sightseers can visit the island's archaeological museum, which displays finds from the necropolis (cemetery) on nearby Rhenia. Day trips to the uninhabited island of Delos are also highly recommended; the UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site was the Aegean's religious centre during ancient times, and features in some captivating myths. Its history is almost as interesting. Visitors can explore the temples and the Avenue of the Lions, and see stunning archaic sculptures in the museum.
