Climate in Djibouti

Djibouti enjoys an arid, sun-filled climate with warm temperatures throughout the year. Most of the country is desert, with landscapes ranging from semi-arid plains to true desert. The Goda Mountains offer a pleasant exception, with a cooler, more temperate feel. From May to September, the weather becomes intensely hot, often reaching highs of 113°F (45°C), with high humidity adding to the heat.

The cooler season (from mid-October to mid-April) is the most comfortable time to visit, with average temperatures around 77°F (25°C). This period also brings occasional, refreshing rain showers, along with some fog and cloud cover. Despite the term 'rainy season', sunshine is still abundant, with eight to ten hours of daylight most days.

For travellers, the best time to explore Djibouti is between November and April. July is the hottest month and best avoided, as dry desert winds and extreme temperatures can make travel more challenging.
