Climate in Lithuania
Lithuania's climate is a mix of maritime and continental, characterised by mild, wet summers and cold winters. Rainfall is spread throughout the year, but the coastal areas generally receive more precipitation than inland regions.
Spring and summer are the wettest seasons, with cloudy skies and afternoon thunderstorms being common. January is the coldest month, with daytime temperatures averaging around 23°F (-5°C). During the winter months, northeasterly winds can bring freezing temperatures, sometimes dropping below -4°F (-20°C), and heavy snowfall is frequent.
Summer temperatures typically range from 68°F (20°C) to 77°F (25°C), though heatwaves can push the mercury above 86°F (30°C). July is usually the warmest month of the year.
The most pleasant time to visit Lithuania is from May to September, when the weather is milder, especially in late spring, summer, and early autumn. While rain is still possible during this period, it's generally a lovely time to explore the country.
The summer months of June through August are the peak tourist season, with many festivals and events taking place, making it an exciting time to visit.
