Climate in Azerbaijan

Nine of the world's eleven major climate zones can be found in Azerbaijan, although much of the country is characterised by dry, semi-arid steppe. Summers are generally hot, while winters tend to be mild and wetter, with snow common in the mountain regions. Average summer temperatures range from about 41°F (5°C) in the highlands to around 81°F (27°C) in the lowlands. In winter, temperatures typically fall between 14°F (-10°C) in mountain areas and about 37°F (3°C) across the lowlands.

The best time to visit for warm, dry weather is between April and October. Mountainous regions are most inviting in July and August, when the conditions are at their clearest and most comfortable. Baku can become very hot and humid in midsummer, so late spring and early summer, from April to June, are often considered the ideal months to explore the capital and the countryside. At this time of year the temperatures are pleasant and the landscape is rich with seasonal blooms.
